I am a registered individual who is supplying goods to another registered person. When I supply goods to a location in Tamil Nadu as specified by my buyer, who is in Karnataka, am I liable to pay the CGST and SGST to TN? R Ramakrishnan, Avadi

As per the IGST Act, which deals with inter-state supply of goods and services, the address of the buyer, ie the ‘bill to party’ address would be relevant and not the location of the delivery. In this case, though the delivery location is in TN, the bill to location is in Karnataka and hence you should pay IGST and not CGST and SGST.
