Pricol bets big on fuel pump module

Pricol Ltd, a maker of automotive components and solution provider for the global automotive market, announced an exclusive agreement with Wenzhou Huirun Electrical Machinery Co Ltd. The pact involves technical collaboration and supply and production of fuel pump and fuel pump modules in India.

Through this strategic agreement, Pricol intends to strengthen its automotive pump portfolio in the country. It will also become a comprehensive supplier of fuel pump modules required for electronic fuel injection systems. Wenzhou Huirun will support Pricol with product and process technologies for the new business opportunities arising in all segments such as two-wheeler, three-wheeler, four-wheeler, commercial vehicles and off-road vehicles (both petrol & diesel systems). 

Vikram Mohan, MD, Pricol Ltd said, “FY-17 is going to be a definitive year with our various strategic partnerships. Our priorities will be to strengthen our product portfolio, technology and production capabilities to meet the BS-VI norms by 2020.”

He added, “India has overtaken China to emerge as the world’s biggest market for two-wheelers. With Wenzhou Huirun’s partnership, we are targeting over 30 pc market share in this product segment in the two-wheeler market in India which is on a course to touch the 20 million range by 2020.” 

With Pricol already being the leader in the manufacture of fuel level sensor for the two-wheeler market in India, this partnership suits the product portfolio and capabilities, he asserted. With an initial investment of Rs 200 mn over the next three years, Pricol eyes a market share of more than 30 pc in the two-wheeler segment in India. With a confirmed order for this product with a leading two-wheeler OEM in India, Pricol plans to manufacture 3 to 6 mn fuel pump modules post the implementation of BS VI.
