Held at Coimbatore, the workshop was inaugurated by Dr Bindu Dey, Secretary, Technology Development Board and Hemalatha Annamalai, CEO, Ampere Vehicles (P) Ltd. The workshop comes at a time when most Southern states, including Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka are gearing up for the separate EV policy.
Dey said, “One of the few constants in technology is change; the only question is how fast it arrives for the EVs. Change tends to accelerate at ‘inflection points’, where a technological advancement or shift in policy will make a practical translation for greener mobility solutions.”
The objective of the workshop was to create awareness, technology initiatives and business models for electric mobility (EM) in line with the National Mission of Electric Mobility (NMEM) for 2030.
Hemalatha said, “Ampere worked closely with government in the last three years. This collaboration has resulted in creating favourable policy environment. Our endeavour is to promote development and commercialisation of indigenous technology and adoption of imported technology for wider application for EVs. The sole objective of commercialising EVs is to permeate indigenous research for mass percolation and incorporation be it charger, technology, vehicle or battery.”
The workshop was aimed at assessing the scope for electric mobility through scouting of technologies relevant to NMEM. Promotion of electric mobility technologies and market identification potential partnership for next generation electric vehicle technology was also a key focus area.
