Mahindra Powerol unveils new range of diesel generators

Mahindra Powerol, a business unit of the $19 bn Mahindra Group, on Friday announced its entry into the higher kVA diesel generators (DG) segment with the launch of its new range of 250/320 kVA DGs in Chennai. These diesel generators are powered by the company’s mPower series of engines. Designed at the Mahindra Research Valley, its R&D hub in Chennai and manufactured at its Chakan plant near Pune, this new 9.3 litre engine range is the latest addition to Mahindra Powerol’s mPOWER series and comes equipped with the Common Rail Diesel Engine (CRDe) technology. 

Hemant Sikka, President – Chief Purchase Officer, Powerol & Spares Business, Mahindra & Mahindra said, “The launch marks our foray into the higher kVA Diesel Generator segment, with our own engines, which in turn will define a new segment and consumer group for us. This future ready CRDe technology is set to deliver lesser emissions and higher performance at a lower operating cost, thereby raising the bar in customer centricity.” The 250kVA diesel generator is priced at Rs 12.5 lakhs + GST (ex-works) & 320kVA diesel generator is priced at Rs. 16.0 lakhs + GST (ex-works).  

Mahindra Powerol entered the field of power generation in 2001-02. Starting FY 2002, the business has grown exponentially to become a Rs 1250 crore in FY 2016-17. Today, engines from Mahindra Powerol are powering Diesel Generating sets from 5 kVA to 320 kVA. The company’s DG sets enjoy a leadership position in telecom majors across India and globally, according to top officials from the firm. Besides telecom, these DG sets power customers from a diverse cross-section of industries and segments like banks, building & construction, public sector units, hospitals, hotels, homes and manufacturing units in India & in global markets.
