Proklean Technologies is the only firm from Tamil Nadu among the 4 Indian companies to be named in this list. Proklean is a biotechnology company developing and manufacturing biochemicals that replace toxic chemicals with readily biodegradable and non-toxic products using its proprietary probiotic technology.
Dr Sivaram Pillai, Founder Director & CEO, stated that it is a proud moment for the company to be recognised and placed among the best players in the APAC region. “Established in 2012, we help users conserve critical natural resources and reduce pollution, while saving on costs. We have developed a unique proprietary technology that uses probiotics to create biodegradable and non-toxic products to replace toxic chemicals currently being used in various industries. Ours is a first of its kind of technology to offer eco-friendly alternative, without any additional cost and/or process changes to the industry.”
“Currently these products are commercialised for the leather and textile processing industries, among the major contributors to pollution and high consumption of water, energy and chemicals. They have been well received by the industry and have led to savings in water and energy upto 30% with significant reduction in usage of toxic chemicals and effluents upto 40%. We are now bringing products for waste water treatment, paper and pulp industries and also a line of products for household cleaning applications,” said Dr Pillai.
The APAC 25 is part of the Global Cleantech 100 programme, launched this year. Like its parent programme, it seeks to recognise private and independent companies, sustainable innovation companies, that are catching the attention of those in the market, and which they believe are most likely to have significant impact in a 5-10-year time frame.
CTG put together the list of 25 companies through a combination of APAC-related inputs from the annual Global Cleantech 100 process with the specific inputs asked of an APAC 25 expert panel.
