Time for fans to draw a line?

Actors in tinseltown are demi-gods to their fans. Though stars enjoy the fan following, they tend to miss their privacy at times. Fans go the extra mile to express their love towards their matinee idol, but at times they end up making them uncomfortable as well. A recent photo of Rajinikanth is evidence of to what extent fans can go. In the picture, Superstar is seen wearing only his spa bathrobe and appears to be in a hotel in Mumbai where he is currently shooting. The photo caption claimed that Rajinikanth had agreed to pose for the picture after he had pleaded with him for long. Though it shows Rajini’s generosity, the comments section had Rajini’s fans lashing out at the person for intruding into the actor’s private space.

Everyone had trolled veteran actor Sivakumar for knocking mobile phones of fans who took a selfie with him without his consent, but the actor was vehement in saying that celebrities are not public properties. Legendary playback singer Yesudas, too , had courted controvery when he pushed away a youth hand who tried to click a selfie with him. He even, got the mobile and deleted his picture himself. Another example is that, a couple of fans followed Ajith’s car all the way to his house in Tiruvanmiyur just to click a picture with him. Ajith noticed them following him for quite some time before he stopped his car and advised them not to indulge in rash driving. There is no doubt that fans are valued by stars, but there should be boundaries, say industry insiders.
