“This is a period film that is based on how situations force a hunter to commit robbery. Real-life incidents that took place in my neighbourhood in Madurai when I was young inspired me to write the screenplay for this film,” Chandra told DT Next. She said she did intense research for the story. “I kept following them and tracked incidents in their lives frequently and recorded it. Working with Ameer and Ram for films like Katradhu Tamil and Raam helped me to pen the screenplay,” she added.

Talking about the story, she further added, “The story is set in the backdrop of 1970s and 80s and revolves around a hunter and his son. The son starts making guns to hunt and then gets caught under the Arms Act. Later, he is impoverished and loots a house and ends up behind bars. This is about his struggle and how life is unfair at times.” Chandra said that Karu Palaniappan has delivered his best performance till date. “I narrated to him the story and he was engrossed with the character. Without a second thought, he agreed to do the film.”
