Elango to pen the screenplay for Mani’s Ponniyin Selvan
A few days ago we reported that Lyca Productions, which was supposed to produce Mani Ratnam’s dream project Ponniyin Selvan, backed out in the last minute due to budget issues.

The film will now be funded by Reliance Entertainment, and the pre-production works are happening at a brisk pace.
The latest is that actor Elango Kumaravel, who is known for his performance in films like Abhiyum Naanum and Mozhi, will be collaborating with Mani Ratnam to pen the screenplay of the film. A source tells us that the actor has already begun working on the project with Mani and he might also play a crucial role in the film. Interestingly, Elango Kumaravel had ealier been part of the famous Ponniyin Selvan theatre play in the 90s and is also known for successfully adapting many historical novels into plays.
We also hear that the film is likely to go on floors in December. Actors like Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Vikram, Keerthy Suresh, Aishwarya Rai and Mohan Babu have been confirmed for the project.
