Thalaivi to go on floors in October

Earlier, we reported that actress Kangana Ranaut is attending workshops in Mumbai to prep for her role in Thalaivi — the biopic on the life of the late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. There were also reports that the actress is being paid Rs 24 crore for this bilingual film, which is directed by Vijay.

The latest development is that the pre-production works are progressing at a brisk pace and the film is all set to go on floors in October. A source says, “The first half of the film completely revolves around Jayalalithaa’s life as dancer and it will be majorly shot in Mysuru. Kangana is learning Bharathnatyam and has been attending language workshops. The film will begin in the first week of October and will be completed by the end of this year.”


Bankrolled by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Sahilesh R Singh, the Hindi version of the film has been titled Jaya. Other details regarding the cast and crew are yet to be announced by the makers.
