Director Vetri Maaran announced that Vada Chennai sequel is on the cards and it might hit the screens in a few months. Reports were also that major portions of the film’s sequel have been shot already and its ready for release.

However, now we hear that the makers have decided to put the film on hold due to various reasons. A source in the know of things says, “Though Vada Chennai did well at the box office, the residents of north Chennai weren’t happy about the way their lifestyle has been portrayed on-screen. Vetri Maaran is now finding it tough to shoot for the remaining sequences in the same locality. Moreover, a couple of artistes who played pivotal roles in Vada Chennai got busy with other projects. That’s why the film has been shelved.” We also hear that the director is concentrating on making a web series titled Rajan Vagaiyara which will only focus on the life of Ameer’s character Rajan in Vada Chennai.
