Even before the completion of Darbar, rumours about Superstar Rajinikanth’s 168th project have been doing the rounds in k’town. Many said that Darbar might be Rajini’s last project before taking a plunge into politics.
Contrary to speculations, we hear that the actor has confirmed his next film with Siruthai Siva that will be bankrolled by Sun Pictures.
A source in the know of things told DT Next, “The first leg of narration happened in May. When Rajini sir was here in Chennai, Siva had narrated a bound script, which impressed Thalaivar. He waited for the auspicious Tamil month of Aavani (which falls in the middle of August) and gave the nod to Siva. The film will go on floors in January.”
The movie is touted to be a rural based subject just like Siva’s previous films, excluding Vivegam. “If things fall in place, the film might hit the screens for Deepavali next year. The project is in its early stages as Superstar is busy with Darbar and Siva is shooting Suriya 39. Other announcements will be made only later this year or in January next year,” the source added.
Rajinikanth is now shooting for Darbar on a 20-day schedule on the outskirts of Mumbai.
