For the first time in the history of Tamil Nadu Film Producers’ Council elections there will be a three-way face off. A source in the know told DTNext, “It was Vishal up against T Siva and team in 2017. This year, it will be Vishal vs T Siva vs Thenandal Murali pitted against one another for the post of President. Murali will be representing a team, backed by South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce.” The TFPC is currently run by the government-appointed ad hoc committee which has members. The committee members include some of the popular names from the industry such as director Bharathiraja, Amma Creations T Siva, actor/politician S Ve Sekar, Sathyajyothi Thiagarajan, K Rajan, Durai Raj, Sivasakthi Pandian, Radhakrishnan and JSK Satish Kumar. This was done after complaints about the council for misappropriation of funds and not adhering to the society’s registration act guidelines surfaced.
The source said, “The government will look into the issue and will permit TFPC to hold the elections. This time the government will intervene in the election and the Information and Broadcast Minister Kadambur Raju is expected to back T Siva’s team.” The election will take place in the first week of April. Last time SR Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Gautham Menon and KE Gnanavel Raja contested the elections from Vishal’s team. This year, it will be a new-look team. “Kameela Nasser will be one of the contestants from Vishal’s team,” the source revealed.
