‘We have made this lockdown productive’: Director Thiru’s wife Kani

The channel will show her storytelling sessions Oru Oorula Oru Raja through various episodes about Indian history. The episodes are directed and edited by her husband, who tells DT Next, “Kani has a profound love for Tamil since her childhood and has also hosted programmes in television channels. She was also fascinated by history even as a kid. So, we discussed about the idea of Theatre D in which a couple of episodes are already out. We are looking forward to making another 50 episodes at least. I am glad that we have done something productive during this lockdown.”

Kani adds that Thiru has been supportive of what she wants to bring out. “Though I narrate it, he asks me to add those extra lines to make it more interesting. I wanted my storytelling sessions to be based on Tamil literature initially. However, it is like an ocean. Hence, Thiru suggested that I take up my favourite topic of history and narrate it in Tamil, the language I love the most,” she reveals. Kani said that she took references from her dad’s library. “He has a collection of history books and I had to research on the internet as well so that I don’t wrong with facts. I would continue this for the rest of the year irrespective of the feedback I receive,” she concludes.
