Phone calls and messages were exchanged frantically as the human cost of military engagement began dawning on the citizens.
Less than a day earlier, social media had gone into a tizzy over arguments of the pros and cons of retaliation. But this Wednesday, the mood was a lot more sombre. Office goers glued to their screens were finding it hard to get on with their daily chores, as the fear of impending strikes and the fate of our soldiers remained uncertain. An acquaintance, who grew emotional as she spoke to this journalist said how even TV sets in hospitals and supermarkets had the news running constantly, with entertainment channels taking a thorough backseat.
It also dawned on a lot of armchair political analysts and onlookers that it just took a few tweets to voice one’s opinion, but for those fighting on the front-lines, every day above the ground is a good day. Of course, individuals did their best to keep spirits high as both Twitter and Facebook were flooded with messages to bring Abhi back home safe. Differences were set aside for once as it seemed there were greater concerns that had to be addressed.
