While officers with plump posts want the results to go in favour of the ruling party, those in lower posts want the results to be in favour of opposition DMK. The list ranges from top police officials to local body engineers who liaison between the political masters and the contractors.

Although most of the government employees, who are active members of Jacto Geo, Tamil Nadu Transport Unions and Tamil Nadu secretariat staff association, have been voicing their grievances against the Edappadi K Palaniswami government, a majority of the engineers under public works department, state highways and local administration are silent and want to the current government to continue. According to secretariat sources, there are also officers willing to retire if the current government has chances of not returning. The list also includes a few from the state public relations and information department. Those on extension post-retirement and deputation also have their fingers crossed.

Interestingly, the IT raids in the past two years had not only targeted the politicians but also several engineers attached to highways, PWD and local administration. A change in regime may add to the existing turmoil for the government officials who have departmental connections with the recent IT raids.
