T Jeeva (27), Baker

I am from Theni. My parents shifted to Vandalur shortly after I was born. I have an elder brother. He is running a play school in KK Nagar. Right after I finished school, I had to start working and so couldn’t opt for higher education. I started to work as an electrician with a private firm in Chennai 10 years ago. I don’t not why but that job did not suit me and I felt unsafe. I had a dream from my childhood to become a baker. So I joined a catering course and learned how to design and bake cakes. After finishing the course, I joined a reputed bakery in Perungalathur.  I work from 6 am to 4 pm every day and sometimes it would get extended based on the number of orders. I am a specialist in making designer cakes, especially fresh cream cakes. I love this job and every day I am improving myself and learning new things. I spend most of my free time on the internet to learn and keep me updated on new designs and verities of cakes. Apart from cakes, I also make several kinds of biscuits and puffs. Last year, with my savings, I achieved my longtime childhood dream of buying a bike. My next goal is to construct my own house and give my parents a happy life. Hopefully, I would achieve it soon.
