Amid mounting protests from various groups, including those from Tinsel Town, the Chennai City police registering a First Information Report (FIR) under the IT Act against actor Simbu and composer Anirudh, the duo who had allegedly belted out the controversial Beep Song.

Police sources said the FIR was filed for misuse the of Internet by the duo. They will be called for enquiry and might be arrested,” the sources added. Meanwhile, speaking to a TV channel on the phone, Simbu made a U-turn, stating that Anirudh was not part of the Beep Song and that his name was needlessly dragged into it.

It may be recalled that it was Simbu who had last week said that the song was composed by Anirudh and had been penned and crooned by him. Simbu added the song was not released by him and the version available online was a rough cut which was leaked by some miscreants. He went on to say that there was no need to issue apology since the song was not part of a movie or released as an audio.

The actor said that he always had a high regard for women and had never thought of denigrating them. It may be recalled that acting on a complaint from the All-India Democratic Women’s Association earlier, cases were registered in Coimbatore against Simbu and Anirudh. They were summoned for an inquiry on Saturday. But the duo failed to turn up at the Coimbatore Commissionerate.
