The controversy surrounding the Beep Song allegedly rendered by actor Simbu and music director Anirudh took a new direction today. The actor moved the Madras High Court on Monday seeking an anticipatory bail. The case is likely to be taken up for hearing on Tuesday.

Simbu admitted that he had not released the song which contained the obscene lyrics. Referring to a complaint filed by his father T Rajendar to the Chennai Commissioner of Police on December 14, 2015, he claimed some unknown third party with the ulterior motive transmitted the soundtrack with interpolated words without his knowledge and consent.

The complaint had sought for the arrest of the culprit as the move infringed on his right to privacy. The actor had been charged with offences under section 4 read with section 6 of the Indecent representation of women (Prohibition Act, 1986, section 509 of IPC and Section 67 of Information Technology Act, 2000. Meanwhile the Chennai Police’s Cyber Crime has written to video sharing site YouTube seeking details of the Beep Song.

The song had gone viral on the site and the police is investigating whether the song was uploaded from Chennai or from abroad. Law enforcement officials are yet to decide whether to investigate this matter after checking the computers at the actor’s house. He further admitted there was no case made against him since neither the complainant Radhika, the District Secretary of All India Democratic Women Association nor the C-2 Race Course police station stated in the FIR that he had transmitted the song.
