On October 29, Sarah Thomas, was arrested at the Chennai airport after her flight landed from Dubai. She had come to meet her son and attend a wedding in Madurai. The immigration officials interrogated her for an hour to establish that she was Sarah Williams, accused of cheating a London-based insurance firm.

However, since Sarah had not sought for the compensation, the Court directed that the money be credited to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
