‘We have to concentrate on overall infrastructure’

How is the realty sector coping with the floods?
Water-logging is not new in Chennai. In fact, it has always been a problem during rains, especially in Velachery and Madipakkam. However, none of us expected the situation could get worse during the recent rains. It has taken us by surprise, yet we are positive about an upswing in the days to come.

Has there been a shift in focus areas, after the disaster?

Yes, we now have to keep an eye on the infrastructure near the property that we develop. Earlier, the focus was on the building and the infrastructure inside it, but now it has become imperative for us to get together and approach the government to develop the area around as well.

What are the other potential areas in the city for realty?
We have pockets like Guduvanchery, Mambakkam, Urapakkam, Maraimalai Nagar and Kattankulathur. These are well connected to the IT corridor from GST Road within a  distance of just 12-13 kilometres. With potable water and infrastructure congenial for development, they are the next ideal spots.
