“I welcome the move. A temple is not a place to show how modern we are. We can be modern without disrespecting tradition. There is no need to mix the two.”

Divya, Working professional

“There is an important place for temples in every devotee’s life. Worship and prayers come with discipline. It is something we need to leave behind for our successors to follow. It is nice to see foreigners following the same dress code.”

 Malar, Social worker

“Many people don’t understand that the purpose of visiting a temple is to purify the mind and body and there shouldn’t be any distractions inside. It is good to see that a dress code has been enforced, in a bid to preserve the sanctity of temples.”

Chathur Bhuj, Retired cashier

“Temples are a reflection of our tradition. They were places that nurtured arts and culture. If you remove the influence, there is nothing to celebrate. We have to keep the sanctity intact. Every religion has its own principle and rules and all of them have their own importance.”

Rajkumar, Marketing manager
