High Court maintains status quo on Chennai Super Kings suspension

A Madras High Court bench contended that public interest cannot be brought in to canvass the case and re-open the recommendations passed by the Justice Lodha Committee.

The scope for lifting the suspension of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) from IPL suffered yet another blow. The Madras High Court on Wednesday declined to withdraw the suspension, saying the petition filed by the team’s new owner CSK Cricket Limited was not maintainable.  

The first bench comprising Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice T S Sivagnanam held that the petitioner has no independent status as a franchisee.
