The Opposition staged a walkout alleging that the ruling AIADMK had failed to protect the people’s interests. Soon after Governor K Rosaiah rose to deliver his customary address, DMK floor leader MK Stalin tried to read out a statement.
He was not allowed to speak. Since the governor went ahead with his address, Stalin led his party members out of the House.
Later, Stalin told newsmen the state administration had failed on various fronts and that the Governor address would not redress the grievances of the people.
It was only a mere ritual and that the DMK was staging a walk-out and boycotting it. Other parties, including the principal opposition DMDK, the PMK, CPI(M) and the Puthiya Tamizhagam also staged a walk-out from the House.
