Security heightened across Tamil Nadu for Republic Day
Around 15,000 police personnel have been deputed on security detail across the city to ensure that no untoward incident occurs.

Heightened security arrangements have been put in place across Tamil Nadu in view of the Republic Day celebrations today. According to police sources, around 15,000 police personnel will be on security duty in the city. Police said, this year the security has been tightened and the officials were on high alert.
Patrolling has been intensified and special teams were conducting vehicle checks and searches at lodges, police sources said. Security has been tightened in airport, where entry of visitors was banned, and in railway stations, bus stands and in places where people throng in large numbers.
Key places like embassies and other places of prominence were also put under tight security.
Security has also been made in all major temples, mosques and place of worship to prevent any untoward incident. Patrolling of the coastline has also been intensified to prevent entry of any anti-social elements through the sea route.
