Talking to reporters after hoisting the National flag to mark the 67th Republic Day celebrations at BJP headquarters 'Kamalalayam', Party Tamil Nadu Unit President Ms Tamizhisai Soundararajan said the Prime Minister would be visiting Coimbatore on February two to participate in a Government function.
"On the same day, Mr Modi will address a massive public meeting", she said, adding, his visit and his address at the public meeting would be a turning point in the Assembly elections, due in May this year.
Asserting that none of the party would be able to form the government after the polls without the support of the BJP, Ms Tamizhisai said the alliance led by the BJP would win the elections.
She said Party workers meeting would be held in all the 234 assembly constituencies in the state ahead of the polls.
"The BJP will make Tamil Nadu free from liquor and corruption after the polls", she added.
Expressing shock and grief over the alleged suicide of three girls of SVS medical college for Yoga and Naturopathy in Villuppuram district a couple of days back, Ms Tamizhisai said it showed that the education was being commercialised in the state.
She also demanded a white paper from the Tamil Nadu Government, health department and the Dr MGR Medical University, which had announced that the affiliation to the college was already withdrawn, about the incident.
Claiming that the girl students of the college were subjected to mental torture and were forced to indulge in conservancy works like cleaning of toilets, she said the party has formed a fact-finding team, which would conduct a probe and submit the report to the National Women's Commission Chairperson Lalitha Kumaramangalam.
Ms Tamizhisai also demanded that a compensation of Rs 25 lakh each should be paid to the families of the three girl students.
The bodies of T Monisha (19) of Chennai, A Saranya(19) of Kancheepuram and V Priyanka (19) of Tiruvarur, who had allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well, were fished out by the police and fire services personnel on January 23.
