A resolution adopted at the meeting of the state CPI council pointed out that the Lt Governor in a Union Territory was the administrative head as laid down in the Constitution.

Puducherry is now being looked after under additional charge by the Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar islands for want of a regular incumbent since July 17, 2014. The resolution alleged that the Rangaswamy government has also been keeping quiet without projecting before the Centre the need for a regular Lt Governor. It urged the Centre not to delay the matter any further and to post a full-fledged Lt Governor for Puducherry.

Among those who addressed the participants were National CPI committee`s Secretary Dr K Narayana, Secretary of Puducherry unit of the party R Viswanathan.
