Governor K Rosaiah today said Tamil Nadu was a front ranking state and has set itself as a model for other states to emulate. He lauded Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa for the various initiatives taken by her to uplift the economically weaker sections of the society. In his address to the people of the State on the occasion of 67th Republic Day, Rosaiah, said “Thanks to the initiatives taken by Tamil Nadu Government, today the state ranks first in terms of the number of registered Micro, Small and Medium Projects. In 2013-14, nearly 1,17,000 projects have been registered, accounting for more than 32 per cent of the total new MSME units promoted all over India.

This has also gone up further to 1,43,000 in 2014-15.” Rosaiah added that the promotion of economic growth, development of infrastructure was imperative. “It is a matter of great pride that ASSOCHAM Report, February 2015 has rated Tamil Nadu as the best performing state. Tamil Nadu Government’s initiative to improve the investment climate in the State deserves a special mention,” he said.

Pointing out that formulation of a very innovatively designed Tamil Nadu Investment Promotion Programme was a welcome one, Dr Rosaiah said introduction of attractive package of incentives to encourage investments in the Southern Districts of the state would bring about a balanced industrial growth.

The initiatives to accord all final clearances within 30 days for investment commitments made, reaffirms once again the State Government’s mission to rope in more investors. Stating that domestic and foreign investors enthusiastically endorsed the very favourable investment climate in TN, the Governor said, the data released by CMIE indicated that total incremental investment proposed in the State during April 2011 to June 2015 was about Rs 2.62 lakh crore.

The State Government has facilitated 86 investments worth about Rs 43,000 crore through MoUs and Single Window Facilitation, since May 2011, the Governor added.

Rosaiah said Tamil Nadu was also one of the top ten automobile hubs in the world, with Chennai currently having the capacity to produce about 1.4 million cars a year, which means three cars every minute.

On the occasion of Republic Day, Tamil Nadu Governor, K Rosaiah visited the Victory War Memorial and paid homage to the martyrs, who had sacrificed their lives while safeguarding the territorial integrity of the motherland.
