The incident happened on Thursday evening when Arul Kumaran, son of Shankar, and Rashita, daughter of Thiraviyaraj, were playing at the house of Thiraviyaraj. When they were playing they accidentally fell on the bundle of cracker fuse and in the impact there was friction in the fuse which caused fire. In the accident both Arul Kumaran and Rashita sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Sivakasi GH.
Arul died immediately after getting admitted to GH while Rashita died past midnight. Sivakasi police have booked a case and are investigating the illegal storage of cracker fuse. Police claimed that Shankar was working at a cracker shop and his friend Thiraviaraj was working as a foreman at a cracker unit. As it was holidays for the children, Shankar had dropped his son at his friend’s house as his wife is also a daily wage earner and could not take care of Arul Kumaran.
However, the fault lies with Thiraviyaraj who had stored the cracker fuse illegally and he will be secured soon said the police.
