Held at Shiva Parvathi Pushpa Gardens, Maduravoyal, the threeday festival witnessed multiple events including 114th, 115th Championship dog shows and The Kennel Club of India’s 21st and 22nd FCI international dog shows and played host to hundreds of dogs of different breeds from across the country including German Shepherds, Labradors, Rottweilers, Great Danes among others.

There were more first-time participants compared to previous editions and the show turned out to be a treat to canine lovers in the city, who had turned up in large numbers to witness the dogs in their sportive best.

All the participating dogs were classified into four categories and were put through a series of contests on dedicated rinks.

Wellington Ho from Australia, Luis Payro from Mexico, David Miller of USA and Jaime Gazona from Peru were some of the experts who had flown down to judge to assess dogs’ performance and look.

Ahalya, an eight-month-old Dane bagged the second prize under the puppy dog category.

The dog show is organised to encourage people to breed dogs and let the dog lovers know of ways to rear them in a healthy way, according to organisers.
