Sathish Kumar, a native of Chennai working as caretaker of subordinate rest house (apprentice hostel) for nearly five years now, was dismissed based on complaint received from three trainee apprentices at the ICF Institute.

Sources in coach factory told DTNext that the female trainees were being harassed by Sathish Kumar for long and they had lodged a complaint to the grievance cell only this morning.

Preliminary inquiry conducted by senior ICF officers revealed that the complaint was genuine and the matter was immediately taken up with ICF general manager S Mani who ordered disciplinary action.

Accordingly, the hostel in-charge was removed from service. Dismissed Sathish Kumar is eligible to move an appeal before a high level committee, which would be his last resort before seeking legal remedy.

When asked if criminal action would follow, ICF officers said it would be based on the outcome of the high-level committee findings. The hostel accommodates outstation students who get join ICF’s annual apprenticeship programme.
