Cash reward to Madurai cops for nabbing culprits at scene of crime

The awardees are Head Constables Iyyadurai, Velmurugan and Senthil Raja and home guard Guruprasath. 

In the first incident that happened on Saturday night, an elderly woman Jayanthi from Olaipatti in Madurai, was watching TV in her house, when a man entered and robbed her of 11.5 sovereigns gold thali chain at knife point. He tied her hands before fleeing the spot. 

However, the robber spotted Iyyadurai outside the house and started running. On suspicion, another Head Constable of Traffic Department, Velmurugan, chased the robber on his motorbike and caught him. Later, the accused was identified as Sathish Kumar and the chain was recovered from him. 

In the second incident that occurred on September 29, Senthil Raja, Head Constable at Law and Order Department attached with SS Colony Police, and Guruprasath, Home Guard, were incharge of security at Imam Ali’s death anniversary at Kochodai in Madurai. They noticed a man walking in a suspicious manner.

When he was interrogated, he claimed that he was Azazuddin but gave contradicting replies. Then he was taken to the hotel room where he stayed and found two elderly couple kidnapped by Azazuddin and his aides Vignesh and Syed Ahamed. 

Selvakumar (61) and his wife Mercy Maragatham (57) were rescued from the accused and the trio was arrested. During the interrogation, they revealed they kidnapped the couple from Tirumangalam. Immediately the trio were handed over to Tirumangalam police.
