CM Jayalalithaa shows signs of recovery
Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa is showing remarkable improvement and she asked for water to drink, said sources in the Apollo Hospitals.

Sources at the hospital said that on Friday night, the Chief Minister indicated twice that she wanted water from doctors attending on her. Apart from this, she also took some solid food in the form of mashed, boiled apples.
The Chief Minister who was admitted to the Apollo Hospitals here on September 22 was put on respiratory support system and has been under treatment for the past 24 days. Now, under the guidance of Dr Richard Beale, an intensivist from London, she has started to show signs of recovery. A team from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), and specialists from Apollo Hospitals are also keeping a constant watch on the condition of the Chief Minister.
In addition to this, sources in the hospital say that a team of experts comprising two lady medical professionals are expected to arrive here from Singapore on October 16 (Sunday) to give physiotherapy to Jayalalithaa. As per the last medical bulletin from Apollo Hospitals, she was given passive physiotherapy as part of her treatment.
Though the CM has been showing signs of improvement, sources say she will stay in the hospital for some more weeks.
Meanwhile, several VIPs, including Speaker of the Puducherry Assembly Vaithilingam, and former president of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee EVKS Elangovan, visited the hospital and enquired on the health of the Chief Minister with the ministers and doctors on duty there.
Outside the hospital, cadre from different parts of the state were seen waiting with bated breath to know the condition of the Chief Minister. Many of them have been holding prayers for the speedy recovery of Jayalalithaa.
