College girl raped by lover, friends in Nagercoil lodge

According to a complaint lodged by the girl, she was in a relationship with Prijith alias Suresh (27) an auto driver of Kuzhithurai. On October 13, she eloped with Suresh who promised to marry her. 

After travelling to several places and finally they returned to Nagercoil. As they could not get a safe place to stay, Suresh took her to a lodge with the help of his friends Dinesh and Gopal. After spending a night with the girl, Suresh took her jewels claiming that he would return with the man galasutra and other materials required for the marriage. When he came back, his friends Dinesh and Gopal also came with him. The duo then threatened the girl at knife-point and sexually assaulted her. The victim’s trauma did not end here as Gna Praveen, another friend of Suresh, who was staying in the next room in the lodge, also preyed upon her. 

Later, all of them fled the lodge. Workers who found the girl crying alerted the cops. Police, who reached the lodge, rescued the girl and conducted inquiries. Based on a complaint from the girl, police booked the four persons under five sections of IPC 376 (rape) 506/2 (threaten to kill) 342, 406 and 417. In quick follow-up action, three of the four accused were arrested, while Gna Praveen had gone into hiding. Investigations revealed that Gopal was a former policeman, who was removed from service on the grounds of misconduct. 

The girl was taken to Thuckalay police station and medical test for her is being arranged by the police.
