Duo held with stolen car, cash and jewels

Police said that Vijayakumar (54) a resident of Anna Nagar, was running a polytechnic institute in Sriperumbudur. He was away from his house to attend a marriage. Some persons entered the house and fled with Rs 2 lakh in cash, 2 kg silver articles, 75 sovereigns of jewels. The thieves had also taken away Vijayakumar’s Innova car. The theft came to light when Vijayakumar returned home on October 10. Acting on a complaint from him, police registered a case and formed special teams to nab the culprits. 

After investigations, suspicion fell on Ilango (33) of Cuddalore, who worked as a temporary driver with Vijayakumar. The team then nabbed Ilango, who was driving in the Innova car with his friend Shanmugham. Upon questioning, the duo admitted to having robbed the valuables and the car from Vijayakumar.
