Van driver held for robbery

The city police on Tuesday arrested a youth for attacking and robbing a dairy farm employee at Manali. Vinod Kumar (22), a resident of Sidco Nagar, Villivakkam worked as a van driver with a dairy farm.

On Sunday, he threatened his colleague K Arumugham (52), a resident of Periyakasikoil Kuppam in Manali at knife point and snatched Rs 60,000 which was their daily collection and escaped with the van. Arumugham and Vinod Kumar supplied milk at various locations and were returning to the farm when the incident took place. 

“When the vehicle reached near Manali, Vinod Kumar stopped the van and pulled out a knife. He threatened Arumugham and asked him to hand over the money. Vinod then kicked Arumugham out of the vehicle and escaped with the van and cash,” police said.

Following a complaint, the police arrested Vinod and recovered Rs 54,500 from the accused.
