After treating the pachyderm for two days, forest department officials made an attempt to help the elephant stand around 8 pm on Thursday. The jumbo that was lifted with the help of a crane took some time to stand as it did not have blood circulation on the left limbs on which it was resting for two days. The animal then walked some distance and drank a drum of water mixed with glucose. Later, it went into the forest and joined its herd. The department then monitored it for a few hours in the night and returned to their offices. Early on Friday morning, villagers informed the foresters that the female elephant was found lying close to the spot where it was first found sick on Wednesday. A forest department official said that the reason for its illness could not be diagnosed immediately after it was spotted a couple of days ago. So, they have sent its dung samples for testing.

It was given glucose and administered with drips. The elephant also ate banana, sugarcane and fodder. Though it could move its legs and trunk it did not have enough energy to get on to its feet. On the advice of senior officers, it was decided to shift the ailing jumbo to the elephant camp at Chadivayal for better treatment. On Friday evening it was lifted using a crane and and shifted to the camp. The jumbo was kept in a standing position and wooden logs were placed for its support the animal. The truck, which was moving at a minimum speed, on the way to the camp stopped at a few places for providing refreshment to the jumbo. An officer told reporters that the elephant would be freed into the wild after it returns to normal condition.
