Short films on Madurai hospital’s free services screened

Actress Trisha launched the health campaign- Aram Siedhu Pazhagu by Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre handed over cheque of Rs 1 lakh to victims who were treated at the hospital and had recovered well, at Madurai. As soon as the traditional kuthu vilakku was lit five short films were screened.

In the films, life of patients and how they were treated, were shown with an emotional quotient attached to them. Director, Sudha K.Prasad, who had directed the recently released Madhavan starred ‘ Irudhi Suttru ’ had directed the five short films. Film Diesel Rani showed the struggle of Raniammal alias Diesel Rani who suffered from blocks in the heart. It said she was diagnosed with 10 blocks in her heart and was operated, for free, and cured at Meenakshi Mission Hospital. Second film Laila showed how a girl Laila born with a cleft lip was abondoned by her mother. As a new born she was rescued by a pregnant woman and was handed over to a Church. 

After the free surgery at the hospital, she was adopted by another family. But the most inspiring story was that of Janani , which was showcased as the fifth film. Janani suffered from Internal Cleft Palate problem and could not speak for the first four years. She completely recovered after a surgery at the hospital. Today she is the proud winner of several oratorical competitions. She had participated at the junior Super Singer programs conducted in two televisions channels. 

All the beneficiaries were a cheque of Rs.1 lakh by Trisha. Following that Trisha claimed that though there are lot of people with resources, only a few help the needy and appreciated the hospital management for their genuine efforts. Gurushankar, Chairman, Meenakshi Mission Hospital, said he had named the awareness event as as Aram Seidhu Pazhagu meaning people should help others irrespective of their economic status and Meenakshi mission had initiated it.
