The police have collected CCTV footages from more than 50 cameras from the nearby areas and are eliminating suspects. According to sources they have zeroed in on more than 120 persons who were seen moving in the area and are now involved in the process of ruling out the unlikely suspects.

“We had to scrutinise the footage from October 29 and 30. We faced challenges with the footage that was captured at night as most of the footage are mostly blurred. It will take some time for us to identify the real suspects,” a senior police official involved in investigation told DTNext.

Police said the investigators are also collecting the details regarding the family problems the victim had. Her father’s relatives are all based in Bengaluru and only her mother’s relatives live in Chennai.

“She had been leading a secluded life and did not entertain anyone at her residence. Even her own maternal uncle had very little access to the house. We are not sparing anyone from the investigation,” the official added.

Police have almost ruled out the possibility of it being a murder for gain. Police sources said the woman did not have any major valuables at her residence. “It is almost confirmed that the murder has been committed to get the property,” police said.
