Addressing an AINRC workers meeting here, a day after the party announced it would support AIADMK in the poll, he alleged that Narayanasamy was after power and position and that was why he became CM without being a member of the Assembly. Rangasamy, the AINRC founder, claimed that there would be a change in the government.

He alleged that the Congress government had not achieved anything, though Narayanasamy had been making several claims about his achievements. Schemes of the previous AINRC government had been continued and no new programme has been launched. Free rice was not available in most areas for cardholders and people are ‘disillusioned’ with the Congress rule, he added.

Pointing out that Narayansamy had stated that neither he nor anyone from his family will contest the assembly election is now claiming that on advice from the party high command he assumed the office as chief minister. He could have left after six months with the designation of ‘Former Chief Minister’, he said adding that his power greed imposed this by-election. People of Nellithoppe had elected John Kumar with the expectation that he will work for the constituency. In fact, he got the efficiency to work hard for the constituency, Rangasamy said.

Rangasamy also said that AINRC would jointly campaign with AIADMK cadres and mobilise massive support in favour of Om Sakthi Segar. Rangasamy said his party wished Jayalalithaa, now undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chennai, a speedy recovery.
