Steps for fair polls at Tiruparankundram listed
Two election observers, a general observer and an expenditure observer, held meeting with officials of district administration at Madurai regarding the Tirupparakundram by-election.

UV Jose, General Observer, Amith Prathap Singh, Expenditure Observer, were briefed by Madurai Collector, K Veera Raghav Rao, who is also the District Election Officer, about the measures taken for free and fair elections. The Collector also briefed about the total number of booths and the sensitive booths and the number of flying squads and static surveillance teams appointed for the Tirupparakundram by-election. He then briefed about the amount seized by static surveillance teams and flying squads and number of cases filed. He went on to brief the measures taken to curb the money distribution to voters and listed the number of cases of violation of model code of conduct registered so far at Tirupparakundram constituency. The details on SVEEP activities at the constituency and measures taken for 100 percentage voting were also explained to observers. Collector said that voters were educated to refrain from immoral practices and were also informed about the punishment for obtaining money for voting. Madurai SP, Police Deputy Commissioner, Madurai Corporation Deputy Commissioner, Lakshmi, were the other important officials present at the meeting.
