According to the complaint, Shruti was being harassed by a doctor based in Karnataka who has been abusive and has also made threats to her life. In a two-page complaint, which was submitted to the Cyber Crime grievance cell at the City Police Commissioner’s Office on Wednesday through her agent Praveen Antony, Shruti sought action against the cyber stalker who sent her abusive and derogatory messages via Twitter to her personal Twitter handle @Shrutihaasan.

The accused, who was identified by the complainant as Dr. K G Guruprasad has been sending such messages to her Twitter handle from September 7, 2016 onwards. In her complaint, Shruti alleged that the harasser had been using expletives and highly derogatory terms to abuse her and in some of the messages, he threatened to kill her as well. As per the details, the accused said he would stab the actress if he managed to get near her.

The stalker made wild accusations about the actor’s character and commented on her personal life.  According to the complaint, the harassment had been going on for a while, and the accused refused to stop. The official handling the case hinted that the person may be known to Shruti or her family, but this issue was not highlighted in her complaint. Shruti Haasan provided the email address and the phone number of the accused in her complaint, and as per the details provided, the person was identified as Dr. KG Guruprasad, a doctor working with the Hasan Institute of Medical Science in Karnataka. Shruti had also attached a screen shot of types of messages he had been sending her.

The messages were extremely foul and abusive, and some revealed a clear threat to Shruti’s life. Shruti had requested the police to maintain secrecy in the case. Sources said the actor initially wanted to come in person and hand over the complaint but decided not to do it to avoid the media.Shruthi’s agent had, in fact, sought the help of a senior cybercrime official about a month ago seeking his advice to stop the harassment. The official had told him that a complaint with the Commissioner to initiate action was necessary. Since Shruti was out of town then, they preferred to wait and finally lodged the complaint on Wednesday.
