Tracing his journey, police sources said Madhan started out as a ‘broker’ by approaching the SRM University and a few other private medical colleges with admissions. However, he raised in ranks and gained close proximity to the Founder TR Pachamuthu with his ‘loyalty’, it is said.

With the commission he earned by getting college seats for medical and engineering aspirants, Madhan later ventured into film production. The police still do not know as to how many houses he has in the city and the assets he has accumulated over the years. In his suicide note, which had gone viral, Madhan had stated that he had collected money to the tune of crores, which was with the SRM management. He said that he could not get them seats due to the introduction of NEET, an all-India entrance exam for medical aspirants.

The first complaint against Madhan was registered soon after his disappearance on May 27. K Jayachandran, father of an aspiring medical student, had lodged a complaint with the police stating that he met Madhan at his Vendhar television office in Vadapalani and gave him Rs 53 lakh for a medical seat. During the investigations, the police arrested IJK party leader Srinivasa Babu, Madhan’s manager Venkat Sudhir, accountant Gunashekar and agent Vijay Pandi.
