Kesava Raj, son of Nithyanandam, a resident of Ranganathapuram in Medavakkam had finished school and reached home by 12.30 pm on Tuesday. Nithyanandam owned a Tata Magic vehicle which he had leased out to his neighbour Bharathidasan. The latter used it to drop and pickup children from school. When Bharathidasan took the vehicle to pick up a child from school, Kesava Raj insisted on going along with him.
When Bharathidasan was driving from Sholinganallur to Kelambakkam, Kesava Raj was playing inside the share auto by moving from the passenger seat in the front to the rear seat. When Bharathidasan applied sudden brake, Kesava lost balance and fell down inside the vehicle. In the impact, the boy sustained serious injuries on the head, according to sources. Bharathidasan immediately informed Kesava Raj’s parents, Nithyanandam and Seethalakshmi, who rushed to the spot and took the child to the Global Hospitals. However, he died at the hospital without responding to treatment. The Guindy traffic police, which registered a case, took Bharathidasan into custody. A post mortem was done at GRH and the victim’s body was handed over to the parents.
