Centre enters into MoU with SiTarc

To give a boost for the motor pump industry here, the Union Department of Heavy Industry inked an MoU with city-based SiTarc Pump Institute for setting up a Centre of Excellence for smart pumps, earlier this week.

The Rs 8.41 crore project will get Rs 6.76 crore from the Centre to develop world-class pumps with new technology. “It will first develop a submersible pump and transfer the technology to other types of pumps. We expect the prototype to be ready in a year,” SiTarc project coordinator KV Karthik said. 

The government, industry and institutions will collaborate in the project in which the industry will give its requirements and limitations to premier institutions. Research institute such as IISc Bengaluru, IIT Madras, CMERI Durgapur and PSG College of Technology will come out with the prototype.
