Stalin charged that the officials are misleading the cause of deaths with the government and appealed to stop giving wrong inputs on the deaths of the farmers. Speaking to the reporters after visiting the house of a farmer Jayapal, one of the victims of crop failure, Stalin said, it is unfortunate to see the continuous deaths of the farmers due to crop withering resulting out of water shortage. He claimed that a few officials have been misleading the cause of death of the farmers by saying that they have met natural deaths due to weak physical condition.

“The officials should stop carrying such wrong information. You (officials) are mocking at the deaths of the farmers and stop doing such things,” Stalin appealed. Charging that the officials had neither given proper inputs to the central committee which visited the Delta region to assess the damage nor allowed the farmers to put forth their grievances, Stalin said, DMK had convened an all-party meeting and presented the resolution to the Finance Minister O Panneerselvam but so far no action has been initiated. He appealed to the state government to wake up at least here after and prevent deaths of the farmers due to crop failure. Later, he visited the houses of other victims and handed over the cheque worth Rs 1 lakh.  On Saturday, Stalin would visit the farmer’s house at Erode who committed suicide due to failure of turmeric crop.
