Ramya (21) had put all the kitchen waste into a plastic bag and flung it from the balcony of her second floor apartment late in the night on Saturday. However, the bag got entangled on an electric over-head cable near the building. Thinking that her neighbours would scold her the next morning, Ramya, took a mop stick and tried to remove the bag from the cable. As she tried to reach the bag in an effort to push it down, Ramya slipped and her hand came in contact with the live wire. She fell from the second floor and died on the spot. Her body was sent to the Government Kilpauk Medical College and hospital for a post-mortem. Police said Ramya was a BSc Nursing graduate and worked as a warden at a college hostel. She is survived by her husband Abdul Kani, a multimedia professional and their daughter Rakshitha (3). The family lived at Perumal Koil Street in Ayapakkam. An inquiry by the Revenue Divisional Office (RDO) or Tahsildar is expected to take place.
