Yoga enthusiasts converge in Mamallapuram for five-day fest

Yoga experts and enthusiasts from 20 countries have come together at the tourism hub of Mamallapuram for a five-day international yoga fest.

Inaugurated by Minister for Tourism Vellamandi N Natarajan on Wednesday, the first day of the fest witnessed performances from experts from countries like Canada, Russia, Singapore and Australia. Guinness record holder Yuvadayalan’s yoga performance along with a woman from London received the maximum applause from tourists, who had gathered at the venue.

Speaking at the inauguration, Minister N Natarajan said that people, who are increasingly becoming more prone to diseases and ailments, can lead a healthy life by performing proper yoga. “The ancient Indian way of life has been witnessing many takers across the world and it is great,” he said. Tiruporur MLA M Kothandapani, Commissioner of Tourism Har Sahay Meena and AIADMK functionaries attended the inauguration. The festival has been organised by the Tamil Nadu Tourism department in collaboration with Yuvayoga Mantra Trust.
