Three held for lyricist’s murder
Kancheepuram police have arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in the murder of lyricist and Vijay Fans Association’s Kancheepuram president Imayam Ravi.

The incident took place on the night of January 11, when Ravi returned after overseeing the preparation works ahead of actor Vijay’s Bairavaa ’s release. According to the Kancheepuram police, Imayam Ravi (48) flagged an auto to travel near Guduvanchery when three persons stepped out of the auto and suddenly started attacking him.
The gang then strangulated Ravi to death and disposed his body at Palar river basin near Orikkai. His body was recovered on January 12 with injuries all over his body. The gang had robbed his cell phone, wallet and watch.
Police said the gang members were in an inebriated mood and thought Ravi could be carrying more valuables. So they assaulted him and when he resisted, they started beating him before strangulated him to death. Following investigation, police arrested three persons from the Orikkai area and the accused have been identified as Srinivasan, Babu and Appu. The arrested accused have been remanded to judicial custody.
