Chief Minister honours school toppers
Chief minister O Paneerselvam distributed awards worth Rs.12.75 lakhs to 32 students who topped Class 12 and Class 10 exams with Tamil as a subject studying in schools run by the social welfare, Adi Dravida and ST department, backward classes and most backward classes departments, differently abled personnel department and the forest department at a simple function at the secretariat.

While 13 Class 10 students were given Rs 25,000 as cheques and certificates each for topping studies totalling Rs.3.25 lakhs, another 19 Class 12 toppers were each given cheques for Rs 50,000 each. They were also given certificates. He appreciated the efforts of the students for their exemplary performance and told them that they should take all efforts to make Tamil Nadu proud in the future. Those who received the cheques from the Chief Minister thanked him for the encouragement. Those present on the occasion included social welfare minister Dr V Saroja, school education minister K Pandiarajan, chief secretary Girija Vaidhyanathan, advisor Sheila Balakrishnan and school education secretary D sabeetha.
