Tell us in details about the event

Pedal to Plant is an initiative by us to plant more trees in the city. On January 26, about 200-250 cyclists will take off early morning at 5 am from OMR and ride till Mahabalipuram, then on return they will head to a government school in Saidapet. The place saw a massive uprooting of trees during Cyclone Vardah.

When did you start planning for the event?

The idea was conceived in last week of December after there were reports of thousands of trees being destroyed in the cyclone. Initially we wanted to plant trees in the Besant Nagar and Thiruvanmyur areas but realised it will be difficult to get permission. So we just narrowed down on this school.

Why do you seek to achieve?

Apart from promoting cycling and fitness, we believe that the environment plays a critical role in determining health. Green cover is an important aspect of every city. Post Cyclone Vardah, every small gesture counts and we intend to plant trees to ensure a better future for the city.
